Delete Your Account
Last updated: August 18, 2026
You can delete your Carrel account and your data at any time, without asking us. Here is exactly how, and exactly what happens.
Deleting from the app
- Open Carrel and go to Settings.
- Choose Delete account.
- Confirm. That is the last step, and it takes effect immediately.
Deleting by email
If you cannot get into the app, write to support@carrel.app from a position where we can verify you own the account, or include the phone number the account uses. We will complete the deletion within 30 days and confirm when it is done.
Take your data with you first
Deletion is irreversible, so export first if you want a copy. Settings has a data export that produces a machine-readable file of everything we hold about you. Do it before you delete, not after.
What is deleted
- Your name, phone number, and year of birth.
- Your account and sign-in credentials.
- Your learning history: topics, stage progress, quiz answers, and scores.
- Your friends, group memberships, and blocks.
- Your voice session transcripts.
- Your messages. We also instruct our AI processors to erase the records associated with your account.
What is kept, and for how long
- Content under a safety investigation. If your content was reported, we may retain it for as long as the investigation and any resulting record requires.
- Records the law requires. Payment and tax records, kept for the statutory period.
- Anonymised aggregates. Counts and statistics that cannot be traced back to you.
- Backups. Deleted data may persist in encrypted backups until they rotate out, normally within 30 days.
One thing deletion cannot undo
Messages you sent in a group were received by the other people in that group. We remove your content from our systems, but we cannot unsee what another member has already read, and we cannot reach copies they made themselves.
